It is hard to say what the speed will be, but if I am not mistaken Grisaia did not take long at all to come out (at least the part that was already translated)

Also you must look at the big picture, it may mean a delay for a English version, but lets be honest, after the wait it is going to be polished up, I mean we didn't have wordwrap for years lol. not to call out doki... but from their site.... August 24, 2013 – Summer Update: Sasami route at 100%. Kanata route requires proofreading. Saya’s route underway. bruh you are telling me the script for those two routes were done for 2 years and didn't release a partial patch? It was just sitting on some guys computer for 2 years wow.

Clannad is pretty much done, they are just adding finishing touches on it like achievements.

That might be true and it should go faster. But I'm not sure if Key is willing to let it go so easily. They were hesitant in the first place to have any of their VN translated into English because they were afraid the translation wouldn't correctly depict what they were meant to depict.

Planetarian became their guinee pig. After it was I suppose succesful on Steam they decided to approve of the Clannad Kickstarter project.

To be honest, I do expect them to change more than a couple of words here and there. There has to be changes in the coding too, because right now it's a mess. Some fonts don't work etc etc, the game isn't made for well the characters we're used to using here. Also I'm not sure how much but there might need to be something done about the locale too.

Even if the entire VN was already translated, it wasn't done under supervision of someone from Key, so they will still have to re-read everything. And they have to compare stuff too. While this might not take (half) a year, I don't think it'll take less than a month either.

If VisualArts Co.,Ltd. can't even give us more info, it probably means it's not going to be released any time soon.

Also from the progress the translating teams had been having lately, I think the translation was nearly done and they were talking to Key at some point.

What I do like though, is that they're bringing out the non 18+ versions. I think that's better for well their image as well as for the image of VNs in general.

@doom I believe its because they re-translated Clannad from scratch, similar to Grisaia. At least according to the annoucement, Tomoyo After and LB! will use the fan translation as a base, with tweaks here and there.

Either way, I'm not holding my breath. Clannad was announced like a year or so ago and it's still not out?
